War in the North Legacy Edition Achievements
A completion-safe achievement guide for Legacy Edition, separating the live Steam list, changing Xbox visibility reports, and historical route advice.
Quick answer
Steam currently lists achievements for Legacy Edition. That confirms the feature exists on Steam, not that the original PlayStation, Xbox, or PC achievement triggers are identical. Xbox launch discussion describes a list that was initially hidden and later visible, so recheck the live platform list before starting a completion run.
Status — checked 14 August 2026: Steam support is listed; platform-specific trigger parity and retroactive unlock behavior remain partial.
Build a safe completion route
1. Capture the live list first
Open the achievement or trophy page on the platform where you will play. Save a screenshot or export the list if the platform allows it. Record the game edition and date; launch-week lists can change without your old walkthrough changing with them.
2. Separate route achievements from system achievements
| Type | Planning method |
|---|---|
| Story or chapter | Follow the campaign and mark the chapter where it should unlock |
| Side quest | Use the old walkthrough to find the quest, then verify the current trigger |
| Combat or skill | Test in a low-risk encounter and avoid assuming old counts are unchanged |
| Collection or secret | Keep a chapter checklist and use a second run if the item can be missed |
| Difficulty | Confirm the platform’s wording and finish the required campaign on that setting |
| Co-op | Test the host/client and local/online conditions before committing to a full run |

3. Protect the save before risky conditions
Keep a backup before a difficulty transition, co-op session, or chapter with several collectibles. If an unlock does not appear, do not immediately overwrite the only save by repeating the whole section. Note the condition, time, platform, and whether the game displayed a notification.
Xbox: hidden list versus failed unlock
These are different problems:
- Hidden list: the platform does not show the game’s achievement page at all.
- Visible but locked: the list is present and the stated condition has not registered.
- Visible and completed but no notification: the condition may not have backfilled, or the platform sync may be delayed.
The launch-day Xbox discussion reports the list appearing after an initial absence. That is a dated community timeline, not proof that every earlier unlock will backfill. Repeating a condition once after the list is visible is a reasonable test; deleting progress is not.
Steam and cross-platform caution
SteamDB records a Steam achievement category and current review metadata, while Steam’s own listing is the product source. Neither source proves that an achievement earned on one platform transfers to another. Assume platform-local tracking unless the platform or publisher says otherwise.
If a co-op achievement is involved, test it in a short private session first. The separate progress-not-saving guide explains why a client should not spend a full completion session before checking persistence.
Sources and evidence boundary
- Legacy Edition Steam store page — first-party listing.
- SteamDB achievement and feature metadata — third-party current snapshot.
- Xbox visibility discussion — reported launch timeline.
- Historical route references — use for planning, not proof of current triggers.
The page will gain platform-specific tables only after the live lists and triggers are checked on each platform.
