Andriel — at a glance
Protection and control
The party needs space to recover, protect an objective, or reset a bad room.
Role fit is editorial guidance. Verify current tooltips, cooldowns, and item values in your version.
- Opening focus
- Sanctuary → Word of Command
- Keep ready
- Staff, Power, and a clear line to the next revive window.
Build goal
Andriel’s value appears when the party is about to lose control. A shield that prevents a ranged collapse, a recovery window that saves Farin, or a control action that buys Eradan time can be worth more than another small damage increase.
The reliable starting plan is protect, recover, control, then specialise. Exact Legacy Edition numbers are not verified, so this page gives a party-ready framework rather than a pretend calculator.
Status: Andriel’s role, staff access, and three skill-tree themes are supported by the original manual. Current values, cooldowns, and a final point order still need direct testing.
Choose Andriel when
| If the run fails because… | Start with | Keep ready |
|---|---|---|
| The party loses an objective or revive window to one burst | Sanctuary | A protection or recovery action for the next collapse |
| A dangerous target cannot be safely focused | Word of Command after the first protection tool | One interrupt or displacement answer |
| The party is stable but needs more repeatable damage | Empowered Staff as a later commitment | Enough Power to preserve the support loop |
The goal is to make a good decision possible for the other two heroes. Test the setup in a repeated-pressure room through the challenge readiness guide, not only against a single safe enemy.
Priority order
| Priority | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Protection | Ranged volleys, revive windows, and moments when Farin must hold a choke |
| Recovery | A downed ally, a failed dodge, or a long room where potions are scarce |
| Control | Interrupting a push or making a dangerous target safe to focus |
| Resource efficiency | Repeating the support action instead of saving it forever |
| Staff damage | Finishing targets after the party is stable |
Skill-tree direction
The manual describes three Andriel identities:
- Sanctuary: group protection, healing, and defensive increases.
- Word of Command: area effects, energy attacks that can knock enemies down, and a later staff/one-handed dual-wield option.
- Empowered Staff: charged ranged attacks, faster staff attacks, and explosive additions to the Sanctuary shield.
For a first run, begin in Sanctuary until the group can survive the chapter’s most common failure. Add one control action from Word of Command. Move into Empowered Staff when you have a stable defensive rhythm and want more damage without abandoning support.
Sanctuary support, control, or staff damage?
| Lane | Choose it when | Practical success signal | Avoid the trap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sanctuary support | The group is failing to survive the first burst or hold a revive lane | A shield or recovery action is available when the dangerous wave begins | Spending it on a minor skirmish and having nothing for the objective |
| Word of Command control | One caster, archer group, or push makes the room unplayable | The party gets a clean focus window without moving Farin off the job | Treating control as a personal damage race |
| Empowered Staff | Protection is already repeatable and the party needs a second damage lane | Staff pressure adds value without emptying the next support action | Turning a support setup into an empty Power bar |
These are role choices, not claims about a current Legacy Edition damage hierarchy.
Editorial first-spend order — rank only, not a damage meter.
How to use the build in a fight
Before contact
Look at the room and decide which event deserves the next defensive action. If archers or a boss attack are visible, do not spend the only protection skill on a minor skirmish.
During the collapse
Shield the group, create space, or control the enemy that makes a revive impossible. Call the timing so Farin does not overlap his own defensive action and Eradan can spend mobility on a high-value target.
After the room is safe
Use staff or control damage to finish. Andriel can contribute damage, but a support action held for the next room is often more valuable than chasing a small personal total.
Gear and respec rules
The manual identifies the staff as Andriel’s signature weapon and notes that items can be traded to the ally who can use them. Keep a staff that supports the current loop and pass an off-class drop rather than selling it immediately.
If the party changes from learning a chapter to farming a challenge map, use a respec token instead of carrying a half-support, half-damage tree into a new job. Test one room after the change; a tooltip is not evidence that a Legacy cooldown or effect matches the original.
Solo switching and co-op
Reported hot-swapping makes a maintained Andriel loadout useful even when another hero leads exploration. Switch when protection changes the outcome, not every time a different damage button is ready. In co-op, announce the shield or recovery window before spending it; three overlapping panic buttons leave the next room uncovered.
