War in the North Chapter Objectives Checklist

Spoilers: this page names every historical main-quest destination and boss gate. It is written as a printable run sheet, not as a replacement for the room-by-room route.

How to use the list

Tick a box only after the quest log, the hub NPC, and the current save state all agree. The old guides use chapter numbers differently around Nordinbad and the Grey Mountains, so this checklist uses the named quest and region as the stable identifier. A Legacy Edition patch can change a prompt without changing the underlying route.

Fornost

• Speak with Aragorn and accept Fornost.
• Travel to the ruined city and disrupt the enemy staging force.
• Escape the underground tunnels.
• Free Beleram and clear the courtyard.
• Reach the battlements and destroy the war machines.
• Find Elladan and Elrohir.
• Summon Beleram to break the gate.
• Defend the brothers and reach the citadel.
• Defeat Tharzog and his guard.
• Travel to Sarn Ford.

Hub sweep: Rowlie, Otto, Grof, Tedder, the first scroll lead, the aged tome, and every breakable side room.

The Barrow-downs

• Speak with Halbarad and accept The Barrow-downs.
• Search for the missing Rangers.
• Enter the tomb and unlock the gate.
• Find Kilaran and defeat the Barrow-wight Lord.
• Speak with Luin and continue to Rivendell.

Collection sweep: Athelas, Westernesse Artifacts, and the three tombs for The Last Sons of Cardolan. Do not leave a clearing before breaking its stone pillars and urns.

The Ettenmoors

• Speak with Elrond at Rivendell and accept The Ettenmoors.
• Travel through the Coldfells, High Moors, and Stone Chasm.
• Search the moors for signs of the Enemy.
• Find and defeat Bargrisar the Stone-giant.
• Return to Rivendell.

Hub sweep: Frodo conversation, Angmir’s Elf-stones, Bilbo’s Poet, Arwen’s Miruvor, Gloin appraisal, and the shop restock.

Mount Gundabad

• Accept Mount Gundabad from Elrond.
• Scale the Alpine Pass and locate the stronghold entrance.
• Find the Dwarves and destroy the machinery lever.
• Help the Dwarves defeat the Orc counterattack.
• Defend Nordri while the ancient weapon activates.
• Let the Eagle rescue finish and arrive at Nordinbad.

Failure check: if the activation arena repeatedly wipes the party, respec one hero for control or ranged interruption before retrying. This is a build recommendation, not a Legacy balance claim.

Nordinbad and Mirkwood

• Speak with Bruni, then Gorin, to start Nordinbad.
• Finish Gorin’s Gratitude and speak with Buri about the black pearl.
• Travel to Mirkwood and defeat Wulfrun.
• Follow Beleram through the forest.
• Defeat the spider horde and gather Radagast’s staff.
• Locate Radagast, defeat Saenathra, and free the wizard.
• Return to the map and prepare for the Grey Mountains.

Optional route: detour to the hidden Orc camp and complete The Captive before finishing the forest. The historical achievement route treats this as a missable check, but Legacy trigger behavior is not yet independently verified.

The Grey Mountains and the siege

• Accept The Grey Mountains from Radagast.
• Travel to Urgost’s lair and clear the mountain route.
• Return to Nordinbad and finish scroll, smith, and pearl hand-ins.
• Start Siege of Nordinbad.
• Hold the fortress objective through each wave.
• Follow the final Agandaur route.

End-of-chapter save check

At every bracketed return point, pause and verify three things: the quest log has advanced, the current hero can still equip their intended weapon, and the host sees a fresh save indicator. If any one is false in Legacy Edition, stop the co-op session and use the progress-not-saving procedure before replaying the whole chapter.
